What does "retrograde" mean?

Retrograde is an optical illusion: from Earth's perspective, a planet appears to move backward through the zodiac for a time. In reality, it keeps moving — only our perspective shifts. Astrologically, its energy turns inward.

Mercury retrograde

Mercury stands for communication, technology, and travel. During its retrograde phases (three to four times a year), misunderstandings, mishaps, and delays supposedly pile up. Rather than frustration, this is an invitation to pause: the "Re-" stands for Reflection, revision, repair.
